
Tobacco and COVID-19 Twin Pandemic: Shielding Children (Facebook Live)
This course offers an access to the recording of the same short course offered by the Philippine Ambulatory Pediatric Association, Inc. (PAPA), through the Unilab Medical Education and Development (UMED) Online. The course was streamed live on the DepEd Philippines Facebook on September 29, 2020, 6:00 pm.
Those who attend the course through the Facebook page may access their Certificate of Attendance by taking the Exit Quiz, available only from September 30 to October 2, 2020.
The course aims to heighten awareness of the participants on the ill-effects of two pandemics, tobacco and COVID-19, that affect children. The specific objectives of the course are as follows:
- Discuss relationship of tobacco, e-cigarette, and vaping to the COVID-19;
- Understand the synergistic effect of tobacco and e-cigarette use in poor outcome of patient with COVID-19 disease;
- Familiarize with the WHO FCTC evidence-based measures for tobacco control as well as vaping as alternative to smoking;
- Update knowledge on current magnitude of the tobacco problem- that goes beyond the health issues and covers economy and ecology; and
- Review the magnitude of the tobacco problem that goes beyond health and the measures that are in place to address this problem.
