We acknowledge the role journalism plays in climate action, and we hope to empower campus journalists through their school paper advisers in pursuing the green beat or environmental stories. 

In 2020, DepEd DRRMS and the Association of the Young Environmental Journalists (AYEJ) conducted the pilot-training of The Green Beat Initiative (TGBI): An Environmental Journalism Online Training for High School Campus Journalists and School Paper Advisers. 

This year, DepEd DRRMS and AYEJ hopes to proceed with the second phase of the TGBI by focusing on radio broadcasting through TGBI Plus. The Green Beat Initiative Plus will provide the learners with industry-based content and performance standards that maximize their potential as environmental storytellers and prepare them to break the green beat as future radio practitioners. 

In 2021, DepEd DRRMS, Komunidad X, and Save the Children Philippines (SCP) will adapt the creative sourcebook into an online training to 9 advisers and 45 learners from the divisions of Bulacan, Roxas City, and Koronadal City. The three divisions were selected based on its vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. At the end of the training, the learners are expected to perform their produced play at the 5^th National Climate Change Conference on November 19-25, 2021.
