Enhanced Teacher Induction Program

Enhanced Teacher Induction Program

The Teacher Induction Program (TIP) is institutionalized to provide a systematic and comprehensive support system for the newly hired teachers in order to seamlessly immerse them in the teaching profession in the public school system.

The TIP aims to guide newly hired teachers.  TIP also serves as an opportunity for mentor-teachers to enhance their mentoring skills since the department acknowledges that mentors play an important role in developing quality DepEd teachers.

This course contains the TIP Guide for Mentors and Newly Hired Teachers.

Teaching Grammar Communicatively in the Philippines

Teaching Grammar Communicatively in the Philippines

Teachers are key to effective teaching-learning process. Their roles are crucial in the motivation and engagement of students in the classroom. Therefore, proficiency in the language is expected for them to clearly communicate ideas, concepts, instructions, and learning. According to Richards 2017, English Language teachers should be encouraged to strive to become better educators in order to produce better learners.

TGCIP, a NEAP Recognized Program in partnership with the United States Embassy in the Philippines Regional Language Office is a heed to the call of Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones based on the new thrust of the Department of Education to improve the quality of basic education, through Sulong Edukalidad. This is focused on Professional Development anchored on one of DepEd’s mandate which is the reskilling and upskilling of our teachers. It is also aligned with the purpose of DepEd Order no. 11, s. 2019, Implementation of the NEAP Transformation.

The program aims at:

●       Describing the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in relationship to language acquisition and how they inform the characteristics of Teaching Grammar Communicatively;

●       using Form-Meaning-Use (FMU) framework to identify relevant grammar features and present grammar with selected activities;

●       explaining why and how to integrate grammar into Skills lessons;

●       identifying and evaluate errors and use a variety of feedback and error correction techniques; and

●       creating a communicative grammar lesson using a template
